So …. I’d rather have this original issued jacket and wear it, than wear a lesser grade repro. Regardless of whether it was worn by guys who had a less of a chance of dying in combat … that makes no sense to me. Guys who wore this jacket are hero’s and patriots to my way of thinking and I’m happy to wear this jacket in tribute to them .
Just my opinion guys .

Not leather but this is a short Cathcart 'Brooklands' jacket that I got NOS from ebay. It fits my general aesthetic, being short in the body, matching my high-rise trousers.

One of many projects over the years. It was in pretty rough shape when we trailered it in. Complete restoration. It was built in 45 and served in the Louisiana national guard. After leaving the military it was used and abused in the civilian world. We bought it as an ex glider tow that had been grounded by rot in the wings years earlier. It went to the confederate airforce in California in 93 and is still there.

First snow and sleet here today. I was working replacing some wood on the garage and had this on. As older members know this is my mucking around/working around home and up at the mountain cabin when it's snowing/hail/sleet coat.

Bloody love this thing, not only a superb reproduction of a 1944 Pattern winter tunic/parka (Winteranzug) in M1943 Sumpftarn camouflage but brilliantly made and as tough as old boots.

Photo is from a year or two back but you get the picture...
