Which would also block new members who are genuinely interested in this hobby. Also, given that the VLJ is paid for by the ad revenue from people finding a jacket, googling "vintage leather jacket" and finding our forum, it seems like preventing people from joining would be a bad idea.

Oh so many years ago, in my mis spent youth, I went to a club in the village (Greenwich village) to see red foxx, brother Theadore, and a drag show. Red foxx usually gigged at black clubs up town, but once in a while he would come down town to do a club. His bit on crabs was fuckn hilarious. I can’t remember it all, but it ended with something like this, “ yeah, I’m walkn by a fish shop and I ask the fish monger, how much are them crabs, and he says half a buck apiece. I says to him, at a half a buck apiece, I must be a millionaire.” Ya had to be there. Oh, google brother Theodore. That was one helova piece of work.

Given the amount of dross appearing might it be worth asking if any members have the IT skills to advise or deal with tightening up the obvious loopholes in the forum software that is permitting unwanted material to appear from new accounts....

Just signed in and find 3 new spamtastic crypto crypto rubbish posts that were submitted within the past hour. Clearly the issue is getting worse and while I can click 'report' spam it's a chore and I'm not sure if the reports are taken note of or are a waste of time?

Needs sorting chaps.

More Spam around here of late than a Yank army kitchen in 1944.

I'm with Steve, this bollocks needs sorting out toot-sweet.

For the love of Mike powers-that-be just put a halt on new member sign-ups for a month or two. These spammer prats will move somewhere else sharpish once they can't easily sign up here.

And to those handbag-wavers who get the vapours and freak out saying, "Oooh, we'll lose lots of new members!", let's face it chaps, vintage leather jackets aren't exactly the most exciting forum topic out there on the big wide web - it's not like we'll be losing hundreds of new, champing at the bit leather jacket enthusiasts over that time.
