"Pill box demolishers" being unloaded on the Western Front. These were damn big shells weighing 1,400 lbs (635kg). When they detonated their explosions made craters over 15 feet deep and 15 yards across...

RAF pilot from 149 Sqn standing with his mascot at St Omer in July 1918. (For the anoraks like me, note the 1st pattern Sidcot, blanket-lined Fownes gauntlets, and rabbit fur backed Mk.II googles with triplex glass lenses)...

My grandpa had issues all his life from the mustard gas.

Not surprised, many were affected by the use of gas during WWI.

Most don't know the wide range of gases they used, ranging from irritating tear gases to painful mustard gas, to lethal agents like phosgene and chlorine.

WWI on the Western Front wasn't a nice place to be an infantryman.
