ELC Kit Bags

The SoF aviators kit bag arrived today and I am really pleased with it. The canvas is good and heavy duty, the stitching looks good and overall it seems really sound. It actually has a very army surplus feel to it, it looks and feels like a bit of military kit, not an over-engineered repro. In terms of accuracy it's very good and seems to be more accurate than it's much more highly priced competition. Obviously it doesn't have the 1940s zipper copies or NOS ones but it's a bag so I can live with that and for £40 you really can't go wrong.

I'll take some photos and post them up here when I get a chance (my free time is still devoted to a DIY room renovation at the moment!).
Did you go for the larger or smaller of the two bags?

Hi Steve I went with the medium which matches the standard size of wartime bags. Another good thing with the SoF bag which is accurate to the originals is that the straps go the whole way round the bag.

Very chuffed with mine!

I've never seen the inside of an original. Didn't know they had pockets. I thought it was a large single compartment bag.

I've never handled an original so am completely in the dark as to whether the inner pockets are a new convenience thing with modern repros.

Damn handy bags though, I can see mine is going to get a lot of use.

Basically its a big piece of fabric stitched to the inside but im sure there is a vertical line of stitching to make it into "2" if you get my drift ?

Seems like the ELC has the SoF beat on interior accuracy then and the SoF wins for exterior accuracy.

My mistake ! They have a total of 5 pockets.
Just checked my others and all are like this.
