Flew 35 missions. He flew 6 missions with the 303rd from 24 July 1943 to 19 August 1943. Then he flew 29 missions with the 306th BG/367th BS from 19 Feb 1945 to 11 April 1945. While with the 303rd, Grimm was unconscious for more than 30 minutes. He had no discernible heartbeat, suffered multiple lacerations on his forehead and had swallowed his tongue on the 25 July 1943 mission to Hamburg. Further his eyes were frozen shut and his body virtually frozen. He was immediately transported to the base hospital at Molesworth upon landing and recovered shortly thereafter.

Two airmen of the 406th Fighter Group (9th AF) enjoy a visit to a French cafe near Louplande. The sign on the cafe railing reads "Welcome here friends, we have not collaborated." Roundels of the British Royal Air Force, French Air Force (Armée de l'Air) and the US Army Air Force star have been painted in order to the right of the crewmen.

Great photo. Clearly shows the US airman wearing British escape boots.
Thanks for posting

Because the photo is "fuzzy" another thought that they could be modified A9 trousers , but with Greg saying the photo was taken before the issue of B10 jackets possibly not ??

The 359th got their B10s on March 26th 1944, so sometime before that.

Lieutenant George T Hartman (centre, with pipe) hands out mail to pilots of the 84th Fighter Squadron of the 78th Fighter Group in August 1943. Hartman was shot down and killed when returning from a bomber escort mission to La Rochelle on 5 January 1944. Several days later, his father George J Hartman received a telegram from the War Department saying that his son - and only child - was missing in action.

Cool Kodachrome photo taken at a Bing Crosby concert. Interesting to see the primary colors used for the jacket art are readily available paints used by the ground crews (prop tip yellow, red and blue used for insignia).
