In the absence of adequate civilian barber facilities squadrons have set up their own shops. Private Lloyd E. Yates of Dallas, Texas, has his hair cut in a chair he designed and built with the assistance of Private O.L. Burns of Olympia, Washington, who is doing the cutting. The ingenious chair was constructed of scrap lumber, wire, a log and a piece of discarded drainpipe. It is on a swivel, as the back is lowered, so the foot-rest comes up. Affording the customer comfort while he is being shaved. Most of the men, however, shave themselves - and in cold water.'
