Thomas they were from eBay, the guy had a couple pairs to sell on, I haven’t been lucky with roughout boots of any description but these have worked out really well
Done a couple of coats to seal them and been wearing them on and off since
Got some nice “shiny” bits developing, particularly where the selvedge denim is rubbing on the leather

Quite hard to find these old boots in mint condition , searching the web everyday in fact ( Ebay , LeBonCoin french site where you can find some real nuggets or shity stuff ). I had bad luck too on 1 pair of Type 2 ( leather was so dry that it became like cardboard : 400 bucks the window. The real problem with it is to spot all ttt cabe rng wwith the leather and the seams , about the soles it's 99% of time a resole process so searching the net for old soles and heels or from ATF ( SM Wholesale are good but too soft imo ). So , all of my stuff ! Before the next purchase ;p and the Type 1 still at my cobbler. Before i must say that since i tried the MUNSON LAST i cannot and don't want other last to wear .
A/ Corcorans Jump boots : i'm a hard core fan of these boots ( had a lot of paris , buying and selling some 'till i find the ones i wanted .
1st / A rare issue from the early 2000's i believe : CV1000 . Originaly 12 eyelets but i decided to cut them to 8 , love the result .
2nd / Corcoran 1500 mid 2000's with poor quality rubber insoles ( i don't mind , i always wear extra leather insoles ) but really good quality US upper leather ( before they decide to choose worldwide upper leather that is not so bad but a lotery in term of quality ) . Decided to cut them too to 8 eyelets . Love the result too . Antiqued them
3rd / Corcoran 1500 from the early 2000's i believe , made for WWII impression ( no Corcoran stamp inside ) My only modern era that i keep in full .Antiqued them
4th / Corcoran 1510 early 80's, before the company moved from historical Stougthon base to Martinsburg sold to Cove shoe company but still Corcoran . ( i don't know the exact story . Leather insoles .
5th / Corcoran 1510 late 80's i believe , Martinsburg , still leather insoles
and that's all for Corcoran .

The last part
B/ M48 Korean war jump boots dated 1948. The leather was quite dry and dyed black , originaly russet leather . iI had fun to strip the black color and re-dye . The soles were in excelent state and still souple . They are named .
C / Type 2 service shoes reproduction by SM Wholsale USA , a very early model not made anymore , i ask Steve ( the owner ) the story but never get an answer ( communication with SMW is not the best ). I love the shape and leather of these . The inner stamps are also very different from the contemporary ones .
and ... that's all ! ( 'till the next ... Waiting for the new At The Front service shoes )
What i want to say , about the issue i have with Repros VS Originals is about the shape of the soles . In the old ones , the inner part of the sole was angular whereas now it is rather rounded , on ALL service shoes , Army and or work shoes and boots . The part between the toe and the heels were more thin which provides more stability and makes you feel more covered, I like that . You can see on the pics below for exemple comparing the shape of the M48 soles and the Type 2 . Hope you found this interesting !

In fact i apply dubbin cream or bee wax all over he leather before ( and use a touthbrush for the seams), then I let it dry and after apply dark brown polish. The polish process is new for me , the 1st years I only dubbin them but I decided to try to polish , just to emebllish the leather that was quite "rustic" with only dubbin cream ( I used them a lot in the country sides at the time , now I live in a city ) and i must say that I'm very happy with the result. I live you some examples , only dubbin process. These are from reenacment groups , I'm not into but I like the researches they do.

Today I fell i love with these last acquisition of WW2 era Corcoran Jump Bootsin really , really good condition from "The QuaterMaster Ralf Haas" . Just had to pass a brush , them a little layer of neutral Saphir cream and wear them. The half soles have been replaced , not the heels that are in descent condition. Leather is so soft ! Have a nice we you all !

PS once you take off the labels , you won’t be able to tell them apart from most other repro Roughouts.
Nice part is that they are about 1/2 the price of other repros .

Nice find / gift ! I'm wondering , what is the brand of that rough outs ? Love the bulbous shape of the hellcap , I don't see that on many modern shoes especially on repros even the "best" ones . Don't forget the dubbinSo I mentioned to Burt that I wanted to buy some roughouts. Didn't take long for him to find a pair on eBay. They arrived a few minutes ago - perfect fit. Very happy with them. Thanks again to Burt!!
