Hot and balmy weather here, so Bronson M-421A, newly returned with a patch by @ties70: VS-6, which sank two carriers at Midway:

Not really "wearing" since the heat index was supposedly as high as 124° F in parts of the state today. Was able to muster up a fit pic of the newly aquired LW Foster G1 that was found at a militaria show this morning. Just couldn't bring myself to zip it up in this heat. This won't be worn. It's nearly mint and I don’t feel comfortable wearing it in public with the insignia. I'm still happy to have added it to the collection though.

IMHO, you should wear that one - albeit, maybe when the mercury drops!

Where did you purchase the blackened Talon zip Jan? Did you stitch the patch on the jacket yourself? It looks fantastic.
The blackened Talon was one I had lying around. It seemed more authentic to the originals, although it probably should be a regular nickel Talon zip. Stitching was done at a local tailor. Doing it myself would definitely not be in my skill set. ;)

Why would you not wear it? It's exactly the kind of vintage jacket that can be worn. I don't think it's a museum piece, Fosters are very common, the goatskin is literally indestructible, the mouton is not pristine so you won't be ruining it by wear and it's sewn with nylon! I know it's sacrilege but I'd get rid of the patches and enjoy it! Either way though- it's perfectly wearable!

I agree with everything you said, except getting rid of the patches.

Oh and welcome back, Jeff.:)

That's pretty much my reasoning behind not wearing it. There are plenty of other unpatched G1's out there for wearing. No sense removing the patches when that's what sets this one apart from the rest. I'm fine with wearing the occasional patch from an inactive WWII squadron, but wearing a patched USMC jacket like this one in public, is just out of my comfort zone.

Actually that makes perfect sense. if you're sure the patches are right then it would be dumb to take them off.
