Our A-2. Too big. Again. I don't reckon that's our Scottish Aero chum, but I could be wrong. Anyone? Bueller?

Agreed with all of the above, every Real Mccoy I own have NOS Crowns (and they are beautifully smooth) or Conmars and it shows. But not all Buzz house zips are bad but they don't compare with NOS, its just not on par with the original engineering.

That Pritzker is a 1951 old boy!

Nice 1951. I was born in 61 so I'm a ten years short of that date.

Over the moon with this one. It’s been a while since I’ve acquired a vintage USN in very good condition. Knits were replaced recently.

Unlabeled, but seller claims it as a California Sportswear 7823. 1960 I believe. This one has a more pointed collar which is more M-422a-ish.

What’s this stamp about? Never seen one of these before.

My L W Foster G1 spec Mil J 7823 & Amend #2 contract N383-22356A, which I think dates it to around 1955 has a similar stamp in the inside pocket but within a square not a circle.

I was working on my G-1 today, stitching down the tape at the insertion pin and cleaning the teeth.
I know it's all waterproof, but I didn't want to wash the collar, whatever it's made of.
The material is matted and balled a bit. It has a rough-ish feel and looks cheap. This may be common for these lined collars.
I used a brass brush, made for raising the nap of suede shoes, and broke up the balls (kinda like some of your first wives).
In the pic, you can see (camera left) how it looks after a gentle massaging with the brush.
More important than appearance, though, is that it feels smoother.
I've worked in wardrobe (no, not like Eddy Izzard) on a couple movies and tv shows and picked up a few tricks (no, not like Hugh Grant) along the way.
I wouldn't try to "age" any real, original coat, but these repros are ripe for experimenting.
Cheers,
John

Been wearing this quite a bit lately, a sheepskin lined flying coat from The History Bunker, based on the thick fabric private purchase designs often seen during WWI. Very similar to one that Albert Ball flew in.

This was the first thing I ever bought from the Bunker and I have to say I'm very impressed. Beautifully made and finished.

I bloody love it.
