What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

It seems that USN jackets are hot these days so not to break the chain , here’s an original 1969 Vietnam era Martin Lane size 46. So happy to have some jacket weather. :)

Hail, Hail, the Gang's all here. Or as Willy S. said, "Hell is empty, all the devils are here".
I got my new old G1 yesterday and wore it to the CAF today.
Cool, by our standards, 55f, and dry by the UK standards, bucketing several inches per day.
It's the Decadal Oscillation. For you who are not Catholics, high Anglicans, or Classics scholars, decadal means it happens every ten years (or so). Droughts, in So Cal, are the norm. Why anyone is surprised when we have rain and doesn't plan to capture all of the water has their head up their fundament, starting with jerry brownstain's first cocked-up go-round as guv.
But I digress.
I had this G1 in 1976, it was new and I vaguely recall it cost about $200. I'll never get rid of a jacket, again, just becuz the missus sez we don't have space.
This one has a Scovill zipper, but no label. It needs a few stitches in the knits, and a bit of alcohol to the zipper.
The sleeves tunnel, but are the right length when my arms are extended.
I got it on ebay, from a used clothing store in San Fran. It was well priced in the $160 range, with reasonable shipping to So Cal.
I know PT and sub officers wore A-2s, but I have to guess that some boat officers cadged a G1 every now and then; a sub logo name plate and boat mascot patch are going on this presently.
I should change my user name to SpongeBob, but it's too soon to change my handle.
And to warm up, Tuaca and apple cidar, heated to a scalding temp and topped with real dairy whipped cream. I can feel the warmth spreading to my brane as i tipe.

And now for something completely different:
This Mackinaw also came from ebay. I got it for a steal cuz it, and I, are smaller than the usual demographic.
And it fits. I wear a 38 short (that's MISTER Shorty to you, cowboy)in suit coats, but I like the bit of extra coverage.
As you cats in climates with weather know, the sleeve length is a very personal matter. It's a functional overcoat, not a fashion piece with tailored sleeves. These sleeves come to the back of my hand, which would be good for overlapping the wrists of uncuffed gloves.
I would have worn it to the airport today if rain weren't threatening. Getting that wet would be a heavy burden.
When it's cold here later this month (45 at night) and dry, I'll break it out for a walk around the neighborhood.
Cheers,
John

GW = Good Wear. We actually have a guide to manufacturers from about a year ago that helps with the abbreviations:
Thanks very much. A very helpful glossary of terms.
As soon as my two daughters, in their early 30s are cut off, it's new parts for the '65 Mustang and more jackets than a southern californian could ever wear. How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a worthless, lazy, friggin overeducated lefty children. And that's exactly how King Lear really said it. I know what I'm talking about.

I'm going to break up the next few posts so I don't take too much space in one, uh, space. I think.
Lots of donations to the museum, but not many jackets.
We have one A-2, a G-1, and, . . . get a load o' this baby.
It's in storage in the back, so I cropped out the shelves and the mannequin with the gabardine flight suit.
Love me some Willis & Geiger.
The belt is there, looped through the hanger. All in very nice condition. The zipper needs a bit of cleaning, and that's about it.
if it weren't too big, I'd buy it myself.
