What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

I’m soon to be(hopefully) wearing a QMI A2. After a month or so of tire kicking, deliberating and second guessing I pulled the trigger on a seal model. The pictures of it from the QMI post and the fact by some miracle they had an off the rack 54 in my measurements sold me on it. The clincher was that because it’s off the rack I can return it. No more being being stuck with a poor fitting custom job! It shipped out yesterday morning and has a delivery date by 10/20. These are the pictures I was sent.

Tell me who knows, was this white AAF stamp on the originals A2s applied during redying or is it just a repro attribute and on the original A2 this decal was not on the inner flap side?

That’s a good question, Dmitry. I don’t recall ever seeing a stamp like that on an original, although that doesn’t mean they didn’t appear occasionally. I think the Japanese makers are particularly fond of them, although they’re also the ones who gave us red knits on a B-10, so they’re not above creative license.

Yes, when I see them, I immediately remember the Japanese first of all. It would be interesting to know true.

My older ELC 27752 had that decal -- pretty sure ELC talked about its "authenticity" in their marketing at the time.

And yeah, doesn't make it authentic, but you know...

@mulceber -- I think the decal was pretty fragile, so they probably didn't survive on originals... if used.

anyway, it seems to me that partial traces would remain

I have seen originals with the wind flap white decal and I might have an original with it. The same white decal was on the sides of leather flight helmets .

I vaguely recall seeing some originals in the museum here with the decal on the flap.
