Thankyou! It sits in the drawer mostly. I can't wear it just casually as I actually intended to wear an original. It is wearable, but mainly I think of it as a museum thing because of the provenance of it. I know of the history of the jacket.

The jacket original issued to guy is still alive and 97 lives in Pennsylvania. He was born in 1924 in June I think and my dad was same year in September. They are both still alive.

He was not happy when I contacted him about the jacket. He thought I was trying to scam him or something and then he said "put it in a box and send it to me". But no I owned it before I knew who owned it.
All military personnel turn in their kits. I did. Didn't want to pay for anything as I was out of work at that point.

I got the feeling he was thinking I was scamming him or something. The jacket has his service number stamped in it. So he knows once I quoted it , that it is his jacket.

Once I saw he knew it was his jacket, I said I would sell it to him for what I paid. He said no send it to me for free. A little demanding I thought.

For those who may not have heard about a few times when members here, did some background research on the original owners of some of these jackets, stories like the one above do happen occasionally . I remember one member who experienced the same thing. He contacted the WWII vet and advised him that he had acquired his A2, and the vet became pretty irate and demanded his jacket back . Much of the same as mentioned above happened . The member said he would be happy to return the jacket and just asked to be reimbursed for his cost for the jacket . According to the story the vet got pissed off and said it was his jacket and it should be returned with no compensation to the member . It got a bit ugly as I remember it.
Researching these jackets is interesting and fun , but I think that you have to know when to let it go . Contacting the vet or his family may not always end up being a positive experience for either party .

Wore the Cooper A2 I painted when I was still active duty. Hadn't worn it in a very long time.
Got a lot of comments which caused my wife to roll her eyes...

Great aero! to what sub-zero temperatures do you wear it?Ghastly weather today, 3 Celsius with sleet and rain but perfect for the Barnstormer and my old Royal Flying Corps scarf...

With a submariner jumper it's wearable down to about -5 Alex, with thermals and the sub jumper down to about -10, although once it gets that cold I generally wear my Irvin or a parka.
