I will be 60 in a few months myself, dont think I could pull off the suit like you can, Happy Belated!

Test after soaking my type 2 Bronson denim jacket in cold water (and a little white vinegar).
When I received it, it was a bit large. This treatment made it shrink (I don't imagine it would shrink that much), but I think it's fine now.
A nice jacket, pleasantly surprised. But it's terribly stiff, it feels like cardboard. I'm going to have to break it !

It will get softer if you wash it and you need to wear it
I would suggest wear it a fair bit before you wash again as the denim will look better for it in the long run
