The Battle of Khe Sanh started today 57 years ago...

I had a friend who was at Khe Sanh. When he came back he could give a shit. As we move forward in time through real wars and genocides these little colonial brushfires seem less and less interesting to me. Some friends of mine went to Vietnam and I've seen them progress through outright PTSD to angry questioning to finally in old age a pride in service. Now they're all heroes but boy they sure didn't feel that way on return.

Perhaps, I shouldn’t post it, but Komi treat their comrade in very cold blood manner.
1968 , American SOG picked up a NVA sgt major , who get stripped and abandoned by his so called comrade, on the Uncil Hu trail.
In order to seek revenge against his former comrades, he gave every bit of information to American.
Guess what happened to him, make a man, who used to be hard core Komi turned his coat like that. ?

I went to Vietnam many times and had the good fortune to meet NVA/VC and ARVN…vets of course..
All went in to R&R.. both sides.. as long as they could survive ..shorter times or longer times..
NVA/VC had very basic R&R but with a lot more than described above… got remotivated.. ..
ARVN had it similar to the US ( or their allies ) just a lot less cash to spend…. but similar recreations.
