"Pill box demolishers" being unloaded on the Western Front. These were damn big shells weighing 1,400 lbs (635kg). When they detonated their explosions made craters over 15 feet deep and 15 yards across...

These things are about the same size as the 16 inch guns on the USS Missouri Battleship .

Aerial reconnaisance photo of the hellish moonscape around the Hill of Combres, St. Mihiel Sector, north of Hattonchatel and Vigneulles on the Western Front. Note the criss-cross patterns of multiple generations of trenches, the thousands of craters left by mortars, artillery, and the detonation of underground mines. Hard to believe men could survive in that nightmare...

It's a B-10, the shiny appearance is from the colorisation process that's been done.

Awful colourisation. Not a fan of the trend in general but the tide has turned and there's no going back.

Not surprised, many were affected by the use of gas during WWI.

Most don't know the wide range of gases they used, ranging from irritating tear gases to painful mustard gas, to lethal agents like phosgene and chlorine.

WWI on the Western Front wasn't a nice place to be an infantryman.

Such an iconic plane. Love the famous F-104 howl, gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. Same for the Avro Vulcan...

One of WWI's greatest aces and almost certainly the Allies top scorer due to someone else fudging their kill numbers and pretending they got more. He was cool as a bloody cucumber in combat (my signature was his advice to all who flew under him). Mick Mannock VC, DSO and 2 Bars, MC and Bar. Big hero of mine...

He hated anyone who fought for the Central Powers which was cultivated after being exceptionally cruelly treated by them at the start of the War as a prisoner. When he heard that Richthofen had been shot down he said, "I hope he roasted the whole way down." He gave no quarter and didn't expect any either.
