I gotta say, the A-2 is a perfect jacket for cruising around.

Man.. where have I been on this thread..? I have been restoring 70s Hondas for a pile of years now with a few Triumphs thrown in for good measure. Usually pick one up in fall and restore/rebuild over the winter. Here are a few I have done in the past few years. My favorite is Goldie a 75 CB200T restored to near original with a few modern upgrades. This winters work is on the other 200 that came with it as a pair (it is the blue and white one on the lift as it sits today). I wanted a matching set of a 200 and 350 for my wife and I to roll around town like a pair middle aged hooligans...

Oh man .... I love that Bonneville . A Bonneville was my first bike, and I still have a soft spot in my heart for one. But... the Lucas electrical system made me crazy ! A few years later I bought a Triumph TR4 sports car ........ and ........ once again another Lucas electrical system .... AGHHH!!!!o_O
It definitely earned the title
“ Lucas Electrical the Prince of Darkness”.

I ended up almost completely rebuilding the electrical system on the Triumphs to purge as much Lucas as possible... electronic ignition, new regulator rectifier, fresh harness... now it runs like a top. Triumphs are amazing but Lucas electrical is ghu...harbage.

Do you keep the bikes you rebuild or move them on?

After the rebuild I run them for a season to get out all the gremlins... then I decide if I want to keep it or sell it. I try to keep my stable with only 5 horses at any time... give or take or my wife seems to take notice.

Well from what I can see in your photos , you do some very nice work . Do you ever come across any BSAs or Norton’s ?

Thanks. I did a Norton Commando several years back but generally prefer Triumphs if it is going to be a Brit bike... they just have more name recognition, broader parts availability and resale-ability. Though I do have a BSA Victor Special waiting for rebuild... but they tend to be a total beast to get running and keep running.
