As what I know, they learned lessons from Soviet military archives, the majority reason that caused their failure, is they have not completed Soviet plan ,either. And that plan can be found on internet, as late as 2010s.
Permission to disagree… no lesson learned at all by the „ Coalition „ , lots of lives and human beeings destroyed and wasted on all sides.
The Taliban are still ruling… the rest of my comments would become highly political, hence I call it off.
( PS , yes I was there ).

Sorry, I should make it more specific, the ‘lesson learned’ part, meaning ‘operation Kabar’ only.
The rest of it, surely is’ lesson not learned’.

During early stage of the war (the great patriotic war).
If you look a little closer at this photo .. it forewarns and tells a story . While the German soldiers look confident and superior to the young Russian female soldier in this photo, look at the clothing and winter kit that the Russian soldier had in comparison to the light weight uniforms the German soldiers were wearing . Do you think the Russians knew something that the Germans may have overlooked about the Russian winters?

Burt, it is a pre-war great coat (wool) for a 1st Lt, medic branch. It is basically the same thing, compared to any german greatcoat (wool).
Soviet superior winter gear is their padded winter jacket IMG_2472.jpegand sheepskin great coat.IMG_2471.jpeg

Plus, without American lend-lease fabric ( high quality), so called superior soviet winter gear , is near impossible after 1942.
