Flight jackets and Hollywood

I don't have photos, but in the WW2 movie, 'You're in the Navy now' starring Gary Cooper (1951), the ship's Officer's wear M-422/M-422a jackets. Some were Gordon and Ferguson.

Regarding the photo from Catch-22, does anyone know what company's jackets they are wearing? Although, not in any photos, Col Cathcart(Martin Balsam) is wearing an Aero as my best guess?
Cheers,
Don

Never knew that it was made into a movie.

Is it as good as the book?
I must have read the book about four or five times, loved it each time, including the incredible logic, the surreal scenes, and the psychic characters.

It has a cult following. It is credited with saving the existence of the B-25 Mitchell bombers, 15 of the 18 bombers used in the film are still around and alive today.

A production member fell to his death from one of the planes.

Jimmy Stuart in an A2.
According to the dress of actress Yvonne De Carlo, presumably on the set of Film-Noir 'Criss Cross', Los Angeles 1948.

Arkin's appears to be an Aero to me.

Can anyone verify this piece of movie myth?

"by the time "Catch-22" started filming, so many of the movie A-2s had been stolen that extras in the background wore brown-dyed long-sleeve T-shirts. "

In many ways it's better than the book - which also happens to be a favorite of mine.
It's a movie packed with the surreal dialogue between some of the greatest actors from that time. From Alan Arkin to Orson Welles. If you like the book you really should see the movie. It's a classic!

Ok, I bought the DVD last week, found the time to watch it yesterday evening.
Ah, yes, quite a lot that is very much as I remember it, and quite faithfully reproduced sort of the way I would have imagined it.
Too bad they only have about two hours to fill, they could easily have done three hours.
Now all I have to do is find some catchy quotes from the movie to harass other people with.
Great footage from the B-25's taking off by the way.

This was the source given when it was posted on the hat forum ...

... great, it could also be the beginnings of that Western Costumes story.

Yes, if Western Costumes really had possession of all those A-2s there would have had to be thousands and more stolen to justify putting people in long sleeved brown t- shirts.......

Dana Andrews in "The Best Years of Our Lives". He's reliving the war as he sits in the bombardier's seat of a B-17 in a plane graveyard somewhere.

I don't know but it looks like amore modern G-1? Just from the pocket flap and waist knit.
See what you mean but this probably dates from the early~mid-30's...I really should be able to name the actors, but I'm coming up blank. Can repost in a film forum if you want the title ID'd.
