He listed it in militaria as well so he might get hit with fees. I was messaging with someone on eBay who put a jacket in clothing and militaria and was charged the full fees, and he thinks that's why. Used clothing is exempt but putting in in a secondary category which isn't seems like it might be a bad idea.
With the exception of anything listed under ‘Cars, Motorcycles and Vehicles’ categories all items are now free of selling fees on eBay UK. This includes Militaria.
It was originally just Secondhand or Used Clothing which didn’t incur any Final Value Fees, however eBay UK widened this and removed selling fees from virtually all other categories back in early October.
I believe this was due to the increasing competition from the likes of Vinted and Depop.

I’m not sure if it’s applicable in this instance but if a seller is in the UK and the delivery address is outside the UK eBay UK charges an international fee of 3% of the total sale price (this includes postage etc.)
Also, I don’t use Paypal so don’t know what charges might be incurred if a buyer accepts payment via this method, however no fees are usually payable if eBay payments are used.
There are still extra charges if a seller chooses any of eBay’s optional listing upgrades but these are fairly minimal i.e. 35p to list an item in two categories, £2 to add a subtitle, etc.

It certainly does. In the case of the Devon Fleece Irvin the Final Value Fee would’ve probably somewhere around £140.

Also, another thing to add is that it is private sellers, not businesses, who no longer pay FVF’s. I think businesses have a different pricing and charging structure, at least in the UK that is.

Here in the U.S. eBay selling fees run about 14% of the sales and shipping price of the item. Now if you’re selling a Good Wear for $1000 U.S. that’s $140.00 right off the top of your take home price. That’s a big bite. Congrats to you guys in the UK who don’t have to deal with these fees. I really don’t see a down side to using eBay in the UK.

It isn’t John.
I think that we discussed this in another thread.
I just sold a G-1 jacket on EBay and here’s my final tally of where all the money went .

Very strange that we should benefit like this, can't understand it. We get ripped of on everything else here.
Well … then it’s Karma . You guys in the UK get screwed on import taxes but on this one you get a pass . Hey congrats to you guys in the UK. In the US we don’t pay listing fees . If you guys don’t have to pay listing fees or selling fees … hell … I would be selling all my jackets on eBay all day long , if I lived there.
