He listed it in militaria as well so he might get hit with fees. I was messaging with someone on eBay who put a jacket in clothing and militaria and was charged the full fees, and he thinks that's why. Used clothing is exempt but putting in in a secondary category which isn't seems like it might be a bad idea.

With the exception of anything listed under ‘Cars, Motorcycles and Vehicles’ categories all items are now free of selling fees on eBay UK. This includes Militaria.
It was originally just Secondhand or Used Clothing which didn’t incur any Final Value Fees, however eBay UK widened this and removed selling fees from virtually all other categories back in early October.
I believe this was due to the increasing competition from the likes of Vinted and Depop.

I didn't know they'd dropped fees generally. So I wonder why the bloke I was messaging with said he'd been stuck with them on a sale? Maybe the PP fees were a bit more than he expected.

I’m not sure if it’s applicable in this instance but if a seller is in the UK and the delivery address is outside the UK eBay UK charges an international fee of 3% of the total sale price (this includes postage etc.)
Also, I don’t use Paypal so don’t know what charges might be incurred if a buyer accepts payment via this method, however no fees are usually payable if eBay payments are used.
There are still extra charges if a seller chooses any of eBay’s optional listing upgrades but these are fairly minimal i.e. 35p to list an item in two categories, £2 to add a subtitle, etc.
