Anything and Everything A-1

I would say the A-1 is designed to be a "snug" fit. If it is really tight across the shoulders or you have difficulty doing up the buttons get a larger size but otherwise you should persevere. I was tempted to send mine back because the sleeves were such a tight fit I could barely get my hands through but I am glad I didn't as it has sort of moulded itself to be a perfect fit. As you have probably owned and/or tried A-1s by more makers than anyone else in the history of the world I'd be interested in how you rate them comparatively.

No problem getting the buttons done up, and the tightness across the shoulders is not a worthwhile concern. I appreciate the disclaimer. I have a custom Aero in a larger size which has really started to mold, it is an adjustment to go back to a tighter fit.

I will say that the ELC capeskin A-1 is a light jacket, the only one that I have ever had out of all of them, that was as light, if not even lighter, was the custom made vintage goatskin A-1 by US Authentic. Not the same quality of construction, but both would fit into the category of "leather sweaters." The Aero clearly feels like a hearty but lightweight jacket.

Just got mine today. Size 44 same as Steve's. I would say this is a very light trim fit, but not too small for me. Very similar but not identical to my GW, but lighter. The leather has a sort of glove/ slippery feel which is very pleasing. As described by others it is just like a shirt. The cuff area is quite tight and I find it difficult to get my hands through, but apart from that it's perfect.
Review and pics to follow.

Does the Eastman A-1 have 3-piece sleeves or are they 2-piece like an A-2? Just curious...

Two piece sleeve configured like a shirt

Thanks John! You just made my next A-1 purchase an easy choice...I love the two-piece sleeve over the three-piece. It is interesting though that original jackets from the same order number (31-800P) have different sleeve configurations. The A-1 in the Suit Up! book has the three-piece sleeve and the example that Eastman has from that same order number has two-piece.

Is this perhaps a case of the earlier jackets being made with the two-piece sleeves and then as supplies dwindled they switched over to three-piece to get maximum usage out of whatever capeskin they had left?

May need to sell the ELC Capeskin A-1 though. It's a 44" and I probably need a 46".

Yeah yeah I got it from him. Has to fund a new car or something. Really nice jacket fit is perfect just like an A-1 should. Agree with the leather shirt comments.

My recently purchased A-1 from Eastman's Re-Issue Depot.
This is a real beauty, despite the model...

Just received my ELC A-1 from Steve/senicko. This is a photo he took - I hope he doesn't mind me posting it - which I didn't think I could better, so I'm using it here rather than snapping another. The transaction was also A1!

So how do you like it, Miles?

If I'd had that colour .... I wouldn't have been selling it to buy the seal.
