What worries me now is that up until now buying a jacket to add to the collection meant digging deep into my pocket or selling a kidney or two , Fivestar has changed all that and brought jacket ownership especially some of the rarer models within reach, even the the likes of a Werber D1 is now on my radar.

That doesn’t sound like much of anything to worry about ;)

1933 Werber hookless riveted zip?

werber.jpeg

The epaulette has a single stitch line which means that it is Werber 1729.

BUT the jacket has no label.

Which means there is a possiblity that it could be the ultra rare Werber 34-518-P or even the Werber 32-6225 contract.

I don't how to tell the difference as there no known survivors. I hope Shawn is not taking this jacket apart.

The pocket corners are catching my eye.

The corners are squarish, maybe too square for a 1729?

Or am I just seeing what I want to see?

These are a fantastic development..Luckily I only allow myself one A-2 at a time & I currently own a nice ELC Monarch..otherwise I’d be all over one of these. Shawn has threatened an Irvin type at some point once he has an original in his paws & unfortunately I don’t have an Irvin at the moment.

I don’t know how much this will impact anyone here, but Shawn told me he can’t do anything bigger then a 48 in the new horse hides. They’re just not big enough.

I saw a remark somewhere that the Werber 32-6225 had buttons. But who knows...

Yes that is correct.

The document that was found listed the Goldsmith, SAT and Werber 6225. The document implied that all three contracts had buttons.

However, after extensive trawling through photographs no-one found a definite photo of a Werber with buttons. There are plenty of photo's with mixtures of SATs and Werbers being worn but the Werbers have snaps.

The SAT contract had buttons and the Werber 1729 contract had snaps, at some point between these two the specification changed. The 6225 contract came between these and so possible that it had snaps or buttons or maybe the change was made during production.

If the 6225 had snaps then it probably looked very much like a 1729 and could be mistaken for such.

Hence, as Shawn's Werber doesn't have a label it would interesting to see if there is anything unusual about it.

I have been reading your forum for a long time, I decided to write for the first time :)
(I am writing in English with the help of google translator, I apologize if it translates incorrectly)
If nothing changes with courier delivery, then on March 30th I will receive my jacket from Shawn from Seal brown Horsehide based on Dubow (with some non-classic changes :))
I will try to take photos with real skin color.
ps.
I attached some photos from Shawn, thanks to him, I did it very quickly and, at my request, changed some measurements. I hope I was not mistaken in my measurements and the jacket will suit me :)

Welcome to VLJ!
That’s a great looking DuBow . Its difficult to tell from your photos but is the color of your jacket dark seal ? In the 2nd photo it looks a little like it’s black. Looking forward to seeing your fit pictures .
Cheers
