Most of the squadron patches were designs from Disney for the Army Air Corp and the Navy ones were done by Warner Bros ,that was their contribution to the war effort .

My favorite nose art has nothin to do with Disney, unless Walt was into pinups and kept it on the down low.

yes, like the swastika. abstract imagery can be used and interpreted as needed by by those that feel that it represents, or is a talisman. fyi, the swastika is an ancient symbol, having been found in one form or the other through out the world, going back to pre literate human existence. of some interest is was used by usa as a division shoulder patch during wwll.

Fun photo taken in 1943, but a sad ending for this 386th BG Maurader. November 18, 1944 Son-of-Satan had a wing partly shot away in heavy flak. She spun down and exploded on impact. Five of the six crewmembers perished.
