    USMC Drill Instructor hat

Also check out this place, Marine Shop (http://www.marineshop.net/) in Quantico, VA. They're outside MCB Quantico, site of USMC officer's basic training school and FBI. This place has been in business since the founding of the Corps! The owners and staff MC vets dating back to WWII and...

Willis & Geiger M-422A named to USMC pilot WWII & Korea

No disrespect to Colonel Clarke intended regarding his involvement with Toys for Tots (T4T), but it was Colonels William (Bill) Hendricks and John Hampton who were the co-founders of the organization. Because of Hendricks' connection in the entertainment field (Warner Bros), T4T gained...

Minor side effect (literally) of a massive wearing!

My ELC 1401 suffered same breakdown. Thank God my wife knew how to darn. We found the yarn at local WalMart. Both sleeves repaired. Just to be safe I ordered set of cuffs and waistband from Gary in the event of a "massive failure." Good luck!

    Softening A Jacket

Please do post, Jag. I did hot water tx on the 1401 and it too came out very nice. With dressing even better. At today's prices for repro's best to keep them in shape.

    Softening A Jacket

Surfing old VLJ msgs and found one re how to soften jacket. Harley-Davidson dealership gave me at no charge two jars of Pecard's under their private label. Used on ELC 1401 bought in 1998. For fun-of-it, applied thin film three consecutive weeks. Can't belive how soft leather became! Thanks to...

    Eastman Leather Clothing

For what's worth...I've never had any problems with ELC's service since purchasing my 1401 in late 90's via HPA. Even then HPA was very helpful particularly in sizing (several telcons), a trial jacket and suggestion to buy the 1401, which I never regretted. Most recent transaction involved the...

Clean Up Wear/Discoloration Around A-2 Collar?

Here's image of my ELC RW 1401. I too have the dark "rim" -- which I thought was really bad. Sent some pics to Gary at ELC, asking if he could re-dye or worse (for me) replace collar. Gary said same thing as you all, "Leave it alone." I took his advice. Not only did he save me money but saved...

    Pecards or Lexol?

Thanks, John. Will keep this in mind.

    Pecards or Lexol?

Couple weeks ago I had a disaster using Lexol leather cleaner (the stuff in orange spray) to "clean" my ELC 1401 collar. Needless to say I was dumb and too lazy to try it on an inconspicious spot and lightly wiped the collar with the cream on cotton cloth. Lexol cleaner did remove some of the...

Bonne Homme Richard 1970, Gulf of Tonkin

Thanks for posting the photo. I flew onto Bonnie Dick summer '67 when it was stationed off the Vietnam coast. Spent the night there. Don't know how long you were on the carrier and can recall. While there, spun a few records on the ship's radio station as DJ. Semper fi, Frank Combat Cameraman

    ELC 1401 knits. Quality Issue?

Watch is on left wrist. Weird...thanks. I'm going to buy another set from Gary as standby's but will have them replaced here in SoCal, if possible.

    ELC 1401 knits. Quality Issue?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, I had ELC replace the knits on my 1401 about last year. Lately I notice a small hole developing where knit and leather meet on the right cuff (the inboard side of the cuff) and some of the knit on the edge of the cuff getting fuzzy. I bought the knits from...

Would someone please lend me $4000?

Gentlemen, You have to understand there's not much to do in SD 'cept stare at stars and fantasize. Maybe someone should ask him to throw in a certain bridge as value added buy. S/F Frank

    P-51 Memories

For those who were not at this airshow, here is a piece I think you will enjoy. It's not about a plane, but about the pilots. Enjoy. You will like it. If you've seen it, worth watching again. S/F Frank http://www.asb.tv/videos/view.php?v=1bf99434&br=500
