Introducing the iconic Vanson Skeleton Jacket - the epitome of cool and edgy style!
Hello! Just question what brand is your jacket ? I like the fit to it not baggy style thanks in advance
Hey Edward I just scored 3 Alberto Vargas originals in the latest Auction,. They are only the finished drawing part , without the watercolor having been applied but still.....it is impossible to get Vargas that is a finished piece for under 20,000. U.S. To think I used to have over 100 originals. My daughter said just this morning that I should have killed my ex wife for burning them.
I rejoined the forum after being inactive for 10 or 12 years. Am 77 and probably should sell some of the A-2 jackets I have in my collection but rejoined under a new ID hence I don't have enough posts to sell on the forum. My question is can you consider my posts on the old forum making me eligible? My old ID was Pope and I am on Page 171.

Thanks
Mike Pope

I'm a new member and AAF collector, among other WW2 collectibles. I'm a big fan of the A2 but don't have an original; I hope to correct that someday.
My fathers B-3 Jacket is an original that he wore in the AAF state side. I don’t see a manufacturer name on the label. My question is we’re there B-3,s that did not show the manufacturer who made it?

You might have more luck if you posted this question in one of the forums, instead of as a profile post, but the short answer is yes, there were a fair number of B-3 contracts that didn't list the maker on the label. What's the contract number? The jacket's manufacturer may be known, even without the name being on the label.

I was reading different threads from other members about the AAF shoulder meatball should one apply one on an original A-2 or B-3? If you decide to add one make sure it’s imbedded enough to show the natural grain through the decal. This is how the original decals looked when issued.
I followed the thread on your Aero 40-3785-P and it looks to have real solid leather. I prefer an A-2 to be as original as can be but I feel there's nothing wrong with restoring knits and lining if you plan on wearing it.
According to modern Aero only a handful are known to still exist. Yours looks to be in above average condition and only the I'd say if it fits wear it.

look for hide thinning on the right sleeve and shoulder. the sellers pix seem to indicate thinning. if it is, it can be dealt with when you have the liner and possibly the knit elements replaced. if the jacket was mine, I would also replace the zipper with a pre war talon. I would strongly suggest Steve sellers for doing the work, and the purchase of the proper weight and weave liner material from elc.

Thanks fer the tips ~ I've handled many originals over the years and find the weak points in leather is shoulders and upper back with cracking and peeling. I was looking for a depot re-die in any contract that I could wear but kinda lucked out with this very rare Aero. And I'm also going to change the neck clasp to period correct..........Doug

It’s russet. Did you look on the for sale section? The pictures and measurements are there. I had the same problem. Had a 44 and it was just too snug. This is a 46 but a snug 46.
