What Vehicle Do You Drive When Wearing Your Flight Jackets.?

My project car isn't quite as old. I looked for quite a while for a mid-to-late 60's Ford or Mercury, but never could find the right one. I ended up purchasing an 1987 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe shortly after my 40th birthday. My first car was a midnight blue '88 Turbo Coupe.

Thanks Burt. I took me almost 15 years to locate one within driving distance that was worth purchasing.

I've done quite a bit of work to the interior to get it looking that nice. Not much to the exterior. It could still use some polishing work on the paint. Luckily, I've still been able to find some mint and NOS trim panels, etc on eBay. It took approximately a year to find everything that I needed. The car is stock and 100% original with the exception of the exhaust (turbo downpipe back), head unit, and speakers.

Okay -- I'll play. I helped a good friend of mine find a new car (back in the days when car salesmen used to take advantage of women). We tried a bunch of different models before she fell in love with the Mazda Miata -- and as it happens, so did I. I knew I needed one because it was such a joy to drive.

I brought my '91 SE BRG out only in summer and took it on back roads every weekend -- the Eagles or Dave Brubeck sounding from the CD player. I also auto-crossed with the Chicago Miata Club (thus the numbers) -- always a fun Saturday. In late summer I'd drive it to work early Friday mornings with my '50s G-1 snug at my neck (@Thomas Koehle).

I had to give up the baby about 16 years ago because I had no storage room. But someday...

Ok .. A little different but I’m pretty sure we have some real car enthusiasts here to support this thread. So
let’s give this new thread a try .
Here’s my entry .
A 2008 Shelby GT 500. Presently with 575 HP at the rear wheel as per a Dyno test.
With a hand signed dash board plaque from Carol Shelby back in 2008 before his passing .

Same here. I've hated taking any of my past classics out when the roads have been salted and avoid it at all costs now.
Yep, mine will be off the road now until spring. Just starting it up each week and pulling out the garage and back again to keep everything moving and stop the ethanol even in E5 slowly eating stuff, even though everything has been purchased or made ethanol proof..

Fuel stabilizer usually does the trick for me. I fill them up with premium (non ethanol) and stabilizer. Battery tenders and watch the dust buildup for 6 months.

Given the salting of UK roads in winter & the dampness, my 4X4 Panda is treated underneath with Lanoguard a lanolin product that’s very good from a green credential point of view but needs re coating annually ….. car smells a bit ‘sheepy’ for a few days afterwards :)
