Strange as it may seem I don't want to continually wear leather jackets be they vintage, military, repro or otherwise. For example this morning we (as in my good lady wife) 'did' the horses in our normal winter civvies. It was cold and rained hard for a while but I stayed toasty in my over thirty year old and very, very well used Beaver of Bolton tweed shooting coat. I well recall buying this coat at the annual Fenland Country Show as we had a friend from across the pond staying with us, he was a 91st Bomb Group veteran who, like us, enjoyed the countryside and was keen to see some traditional British country pursuits.

Ok gang, here’s better fit pictures of the Poughkeepsie as requested. I know I’m bigger then most people on here but I will give the measurements if asked. Yes I’m aware the jacket is skin tight but I’ve lost 32 pounds since I’ve received it. When it arrived I couldn’t zip it up no matter how much I sucked in my gut.
It’s a comfortable pattern and the more I slim down the more comfortable it becomes. The pros are the leather quality, although I do wish the seal was a bit more on the brown side. It has excellent grain and softness for steer hide. The label is very nice and the wool knits are vastly superior to the acrylic ones on the Dubow. The pocket snaps are off but personally I like that. I feel it gives the jacket a more organic feel closer to an original then the laser straight precision of the modern reproduction.
The cons.
Im not a big fan of the small collar but I can live with it. The pockets are almost on the side and with the off center snaps it makes opening/closing the pockets a little awkward. I’m not crazy about the epaulette arch as seen in the picture of my arms crossed. But these are small complaints. I like that I can cross my arms without that pinch in the shoulders and all in all I think it’s a solid jacket. I would recommend it to anyone looking to get one. Especially with the improved selection of leathers and wool knit colors now available from FiveStar.

just back from a lovely long weekend in North Norfolk, shot taken yesterday a brisk walk along beach to Blakeny point to see the grey seals, about 7 mile round trip.
A lot of sunshine, about 8C but with the wind (there's always lot of wind from teh North Sea in North Norfolk) more like 3C I'd reckon, so broke out the old British Gloverall duffle coat. Turned out to be one of those 4 seasons in a day days with hot sun, cold wind, a minute or two of hail and a rainbow on walk back. Those with sealskin coats didn't seem to mind the weather at all , neither did I , a great to be alive day. A shame to be back in the smoke now, but it's another sunny cold day, so not all bad

Back for a long3 hours walk with my friend.... Despite the drizzling, cold weather. This refurbished B3 is so comfortable and warm... really love this jacket.
