Yes, it's a Dutch army scarf and an almost exact copy of the WW2 British scarf. You can fold it into a (commando-style) cap. Warm indeed.

Caps, comforter!! Have my old one from the 'Commando days' here somewhere....

How’d you rate there N1, am thinking of getting one, do they do the waxed ones?

I really like it, although I must admit I don't have anything to compare it with. My only complaint would be that the collar was a bit itchy, but I've given it a wash and that seems to have lessened.
Not sure about a waxed version, they do the blue ones and a submariner version as well, but I don't think they're waxed, could be wrong though.

I don't think there's something like a waxed N-1. Original jackets have some sort of waterproof layer between the shell and the liner so no need for wax.

Blue BR deck hook jacket for me today...
IMHO a very underrated but seriously great jacket!
I like it at least as much as the BR N-1, the D-pockets are very practical and the hooks are just perfect as you can operate them with gloves on...
Only thing I do not like that much is the collar, but with a roll neck or turtle neck underneath, even that is no big deal..I am wearing an ELC USN sweater underneath today, a perfect combination....
