What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

there's some written story somewhere specifically about the Raiders jacket and what costuming had in mind in re the design of the jacket. I know they needed something Indy could be physical in without it riding up, hence no waist knits

That sounds familiar - I know that early designs basically were an A-2. I’ve attached a sketch from the costumer that should look very familiar to all of us. Ultimately Lucas and Spielberg asked Wested leather for an A-2 without knits, and the jacket maker decided the easiest way to do that would actually be to start from another jacket style (cafe racer, I think) and give it an A-2 collar, storm flap and patch pockets.

Is that a Wested Indy jacket. I had one years ago in goat and I sold it on. Always had a bit of sellers remorse . I thought Wested had made the original for the Raiders of the Lost Arc movie, but then I read that there might have been another company that made them for the movies that followed . It does look like a hybrid of an A2 for sure.
Cheers

It’s actually a Kelso, but Wested made the the one for the movie. I think it’s still a mystery who made the jackets for the sequel, but the going theory is Cooper (more A-2 connections). At any rate, they returned to Wested for the third one.

Acronym Quality Control

I would say 'Aviator Qualification Course'. As the US Navy does not utilise pilots. Had this outlined by LT 'Jack' McCain IV.

Can I ask what is AQC meaning?
I have several friends, including one instructor 737, from former US Navy pilots, I have not seen such an abbreviation.
Is it some kind of technical staff?
At the same time, wings - you was flight crew member?
Thanks.

Bear in mind this is one of the three jackets I purchased off eBay as a batch. So the patches are from the original owner (presumably). One was a bare jacket, two had name tags (identical), and this one also had the squadron patch.

Per this document AQC stands for Aviation Fire Control Chief Petty Officer. So yeah...technical staff/flight deck crew is how I interpret that. According to this page, AQ was merged into other ratings (AT) starting in '91, so it no longer exists.

This elevates you to "Data Diver First Class"! I suppose my role would translate to an OSCM - Operations Specialist Master Chief Petty Officer.

Holy Crap! The US Navy still has a role for an apothecary? I suppose leeches are not going to feed themselves and someone has to get the 'mustard wraps' ready. ;)
