Good idea Art. That doesn't look bad but Irvins look better (IMHO) if they're a little looser. They're also more comfortable and you've also got room for a sub jumper.

Hello everyone, I am relatively new to the forum, but have posted a couple of times in Care and Preservation regarding a Martin Lane G1 from 1968 I bought. I have been regularly lurking a long time and have gained so much knowledge from you guys - I am very grateful. I just bought a new Aero Leather 38 1711 P A2, which I thought would be nice as a first contribution to this thread. I was going to get a custom made but spotted this in the sale section for £550 - a saving of £85. All the measurements seemed to be my size - I'm 42/44 (the A2 is 44) - and the jacket was made in my first choice horse hyde in seal brown with rust knits, so I pulled the trigger. I love this jacket very much, the quality is incredible, it seems historically very accurate, and I particularly love the collar. The sleeves seem a smidgen long at the moment but I think they will ride up with wear [emoji5]. I'm wearing it as often as poss to break it in, but it's mostly B10 weather in the UK at the moment. Please excuse the washroom environment for my pics, but I was in Marks and Spencer so very clean, and the only full length mirror available not in public [emoji5] Thank you for allowing me to share[emoji106]

Smithy I could not agree more with regard to the fit ,companies I have talked to about the pit to pit of an Irvin say it should be 6" to 8" bigger . Also period photos nearly always show them over a complete uniform . Nice jacket Art , the jacket bug has really hit you hard how many jacket do you own .

Don't do any alterations to the jacket until you have worn it hard for six months Geoff . You will probably have to have about 40mm taken off the leather at that point .Nice jacket by the way , wear it hard my friend .

Yup as the others say don't go stuffing around with it just yet Geoff. Just wear it, those sleeves will scoot up half an inch to an inch with wear and creasing.

Thank you very much Gents, great to hear these comments, and sound advice! This is exactly what the kind people at Aero Leathers told me, so I don't intend to alter the sleeves at all, I'll let nature take its course by wearing it every day I can. Also, I've been looking through a lot of the wartime images of servicemen wearing A2s, and there seems great variation in fit including a slightly longer sleeve on some of the lads. I'm just very happy to own an A2 as nice as this at last. When I get the chance I'll show my G1 being worn on here - that's a slightly tighter fit and I had to lose a stone in weight to fit into it properly. My doctor's very pleased, and that's the reason I bought one in 42, to give me a target to help me lose weight [emoji5] Thanks again for your kind comments!

nice day today in Vienna with lots of sunshine and rather warm temperatures in the low single digit plus zone;
had some stuff to get done in the city on my day off so it was a ELC RW B-15 with a thin turtleneck shirt underneath first, followed by a premier; the first outing for my new BR 37J1 as I had to do some shopping at the local supermarket when I returned from the city;
I just felt like I had to try it - think this will be a great jacket for spring and cooler summer evenings with only a tee underneath or a thin sweatshirt... I am loving it already

We are not narcissists here in the North, we are just soooo good looking....hence the mirrored elevators!

You should know that I've used a lot of your pics and critiques for reference, especially in my recent purchase of a Bob Dong B10 with the now highly controversial red knits [emoji5]. I'll probably get one with olive knits as well - maybe a used Buzz Rickson or new Aero - for next winter.

Great looking jacket and it fits u very well indeed I'm a big fan of the rust knits along with that dark seal brown leather Aero provide

Yeah this one's too uncomfortable to wear a jacket underneath and I can't use the neck strap effeciently so it defeats the object and looks silly pus I not a fan of the snowman fit

Hopefully it all works out with my exchange , yeah I'm an excessive guy but I only want 3/4 more and I'll be satisfied. Thing is I've always been fan of military styled jackets and have some old designer brand ones that look dated but themed on A2s and B15s , now I've got these which are timeless and last a lifetime if looked after . 15 jackets but who's counting and they all look the same apparently
