What jacket(s) are you wearing at the moment?

Thanks for the honest review, Freddy!

It looks like a lovely cut but can tell from the way it drapes it looks a little lightweight for a B-10
Yeah, I believe that they nailed the WW2 B-10 cut overall (even better than BR), the shell is a lightweight cotton gabardine (pretty nice but not very durable) but the lining is basically useless.
The mouton fur looks a little on the thin side as well.
Yup, it almost looks like the same mouton that FiveStar offers. It feels pretty nice, however.

This evening, I’ve worn this Gizemo B-10 (arrived yesterday morning) for the second time.
So far I’m not impressed, the lining is thin and doesn’t offer much insulation.

I have original A-9 trousers and one B-11 Parka and the alpaca lining is thinner than one can expect. Most of my Buzz and Mccoy are very close, especially my Buzz B-15 and older B-10.
I have not seen a repro that really capture the cotton

I am not defending Gizemo but they are probably closer to a WW2 B-10 than expected.

From my point of view, a B-10 jacket was not that insulated, as well as my original N-1 by the way. They needed the electrical suit to really get some performance from the elements.

Respectfully, I find that people sometimes mixed up the popular chinese copies/knockoffs with the thick synthetic teddy bear stuff and a honest try at reproducing a USAAF garment with its intricate and misunderstood directives and material.

I’ve never seen a real one except in pictures Danny, but that’s the important I get. They don’t really look any bulkier than an a-2 to me. At least in pictures.

Pete, I can only compare with a B-11 and A-9 and no they are not bulkier. The alpaca is dense but not that thick and differs in color and texture from each others (B-11-A9-N-1).

The big difference is the cotton shell, the WW2 stuff is very soft and transpire quality. The color is also different, thats hard to get in repros.

Edit: The B-11 has longer strands and is thicker.

Cheers

Hi Dany, thank you for sharing your experience with originals!

I’ve never had the chance to handle an original B-10, so I really can’t compare the Gizemo to them. It might as well be as you say!

I already own a BR B-10 (a Rough Wear that sadly doesn’t fit anymore) and I had the occasion to try on an Eastman (a friend of mine’s) last year. The Buzz (and also the Eastman as far as I remember) have a more substantial lining, the alpaca pile of the Buzz has longer fibers and is much denser compared to Gizemo’s.

Looks pretty right on to me! Doesn't have that immediate "I'm too perfect and smooth!" impression I get with many. The pattern's good- not too short like the BR. To be honest though- at this point I'm holding out for an Eastman- if I could trust their mouton (which is too often way off) I love this pattern from this cursory look.

Hi Freddy,

Of all my repros, my older Buzz B-10 (Fitzwell sportswear) is closer to my A-9 alpaca trousers in color and texture.

Buzz, Mccoy and the old defunct TheFew etc, have reproduced so many B-10 and B-15 over 20 years, it's just normal that the material has variation and sometimes misses.

I Haven't handled Eastman yet!

Currently my favorite (wanted) B-10 is Buzz newer RW B-10 No15325.

And look at this very old Mccoy B-10, it looks like an original, alpaca, shell and knits color, zipper....
