My unsolicited advice: start with a classic mid- or seal-brown A-2 that you can wear everywhere, and then explore the wide world of jackets. John can make SO many different styles and does them all well.

. And I'll take your unsolicited advice as the wisest. I think my next quest will be for a nice JC's A2 full grain HH seal brown , but after that ? no satisfaction , it's a nightmare !

Everybody should own a Horween CXL FQHH jacket at least once Jan. The leather is just sublime.
Hopeless for an A-2 but for something like a pre-WWII motoring or flying coat it works tremendously well.
It has a depth of tone, develops a patina and has colour unlike any leather I've owned.
