The mouton collar on a jacket should be proportional to the overall warmth of the jacket, so on an intermediate jacket, the smaller collar only makes sense. It is very useful when there is a slight chill in the air, while a huge collar would be overkill.

I understand the reasoning but this is just my problem, I just can't get past the small mouton/fur/sheepskin collars on jackets. They just always remind me of those awful loo seat covers.

I apologise to everyone here who have flying jackets with itty-bitty collars if they're insulted, but for me, if it's going to have a fur/sheepskin, etc collar, it needs to be a substantial one.

I guess Smithy and G-1s/M-422s were never meant to get along.
