Thanks Tommy, I'll give it a try. I've fallen a number of times, no broken bones yet - just cracked helmets and bruised ego. I'd like to think the leather gives me a little protection.

More insights on the Aero battered steer:

- It is a friendly feeling hide. It seems to respond and "give" with the body after you put it on, as it warms up.

- It seems to be a variant on oil-pulled or oil-stuffed finish. It does mark when you run a fingernail, etc., over it. Rub and the mark goes away.

- As it is fairly thin and very supple, I think it would be the ideal Indy jacket leather, especially if dyed a shade or 2 lighter.

- The colors are not quite as contrasty as pictured. The blacks and light areas are part of a blend, the overall shade is coffee-colored. The thread here is OD, and not nearly so vivid a green as it photographs.

I agree with everything you wrote. Exactly the same feeling I have after 4 days of wear.

Pretty much the opposite of shearling weather here in the land of endless summer. But I'm excited about finally completing my late war Pacific ensemble.

Trousers are cheapo thrift store khakis, I would go with originals but I beat my trousers up and spill too much on them to wear them in good conscience. If anyone could point me in the direction of good repros ...

That's the collar I wish I had on my "1108" - deep and useful. Mine is barely 2" at the back.

I may ask Ken to put a stand and new collar on mine, altho the hook & eye holes from the simple attachment would have to be plugged up somehow.

That's getting to be a tough ask in these days of low rises and stovepipe legs.
