Gone, but not forgotten.
Super nice ... you could have made an offer, if it wasn't so tiny.

It has some very nice detailing ... one size larger, and some tall trousers, I reckon I could squish in.

These are really lovely jackets. I have one, and am tiny enough to fit into it! :D The one above is interesting in that it has sleeve zippers. The others i've seen pics of, and the one i own, have unzippered cuffs. The chest pocket zipper on mine is very similar to an early Talon, but is made by "Rélampago" (Spanish for Lightning).

re: what the hell they were, i'm unconvinced they were boys or ceremonial, in fact i'm certain they were not. The one i own has French military lapel insignia of some kind of driver Red diamond background with a metal pin showing a steering wheel and a gear wheel or cog. I've spent many hours going through endless French military insignia. The closest is "Automitrailleusse", the driver of a tank or other armoured vehicle. I may start a thread about this type of jacket; i know several other collectors who've owned/handled one. It's very possible they were not issued, but found their way into unofficial military use.

In the course of my research i came across this picture, painted from a photograph and used as the basis for a scale model. Note what the right-hand French tank crew member (i believe the leather padded helmet designates him the driver) is wearing! (Not good evidence, i know, but there's not much else out there.)

p.s. just noticed. The insignia on mine is identical to the one on this example, except mine has a red leather diamond shaped background:

What type of tank is that? There is not much room in that turret! You can see how the crew commander is explaining to the guy on the left how he can not put his hands up!! Joking...

I love the early light tanks. Like an up armoured MG TC.

Mine had a red diamond decal/patch on the collar. If they were for men they they were very small people.

yup ;) Mine also has removable epaulettes made of the same leather, and fastened to the shoulder by a smaller version of the front woven leather buttons.

The almost identikit nature of these jackets - which all appear to have borne lapel patch/insginia - is leading me more and more to a military or other organisation origin.
