Wartime A-2??

The narrative states the lining was removed and a new one sewn in by the pilots mother. Whether this literally means the entire lining was replaced or just the label removed, I don't know. If the entire lining was replaced, it look pretty close in color to an original.

It is an original depot respayed original with a replaced zip and knits. This is quite common for Wartime A2s.

I received the following additional photos. Looks like the entire lining was replaced so no traces of the original label. Knits replaced as well. The loose WISCO zip was in the jacket pocket.

The close-up pics are helpful. It is definitely a wartime A2 that has been redyed. Some of the features are very similar to Roughwear, such as the epaulets and curved pockets, but the shape of the pocket flap is closer to Dubow. Although the epaulets are wide like those seen on most Dubows the box stitching at the shoulder is narrower than on the first Dubow contract-the only one that consistently had a collar stand. It may well be a private purchase A2, but is certainly not a repro. The Wisco zip is not original to the jacket, which would have most likely had a Talon, Crown or Conmar zipper when it was made.
