He finally contacted me. Seems that he has been vacationing with an ole buddy in Spain. No..it wasn't as shocking as it sounds. All just falls under "behind the scenes" moderator positioning of political nature.. therefore details forbidden to be exposed here. Still part of management,though...just laying low. Thank Gawd...

To paraphrase John Mellencamp, Mr. French is....."Forgettin' all 'bout that macho shit, and learning how to play guitar!"

No kidding. Bill talked himself into letting a sweet little Martin follow him home a couple of months ago. Well, OK, I might have helped some with that decision...but I think the man's been bitten pretty hard by the pickin' bug. We PM each other about string guage and chord progressions and such...but he don't say too much about jackets anymore.

Haha! Yes, I used to be quite in to it back a few years...

I would say I haven't played that seriously for about 10 years, and just picked it up again. It's staring at me right now-I moved my guitar (and all its dust) into the living room so I'm forced to pick it up when I get home from work. So far, it's mostly playing a few minutes, cursing the sore fingers, then dinner/bed.

However, the weather is condusive to playing out on the balcony these days....

Hi, Guys,

Yep, AF is right - been trying to make callouses on my finger tips - lessons for 4 hours a week and practice, practice, practice all the while wearing my GW Dubow 20960 - I think the wife has her eye on it, too - getting afraid to leave the cabin without it.

Everything is ok - keep an eye on the member list every day and get lots of chuckles, too.

BTW - the flea sends his regards - seems he can't get past the registration page and he's not welcome at the hat house anymore.

Will post to Youtube as soon as the wife lets me have the camera again.

Cheers,
Bill French

PS - Hey, AF - check out Tom Ball and Kenny Sultan on You Tube - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3PK0EHV6V0

More Neil Young guitar trivia sparked by the above clip......

Old Black is allegedly a 1953 Gibson Les Paul Goldtop. It has been customized quite considerably: after being left at a guitar repair store, the original bridge pickup was replaced by a Gretsch Dynasonic single-coil pickup. Eventually a mini-humbucker pickup from a Gibson Firebird guitar replaced the Dynasonic. The neck pickup has always been the original P-90 pickup, but it is covered by a metal p-90 cover, most likely from a Gibson ES-330. It was roughly resprayed to jet black, and received a new Tune-o-matic bridge (not available when the guitar was produced) and a B-7 model Bigsby vibrato tailpiece. It would presumably also have had a white plastic pickguard at some point, as was standard on 1953 Goldtops. Old Black is notable for its metal hardware, including an aluminum pickguard, whose rigidity produces additional feedback—a tone characteristic of many of Neil Young's guitar sounds.

COOL.

I saw Neil and his band was Booker T, Steve Cropper, Duck Dunn and Jim Keltner in the early-mid 1990s. Great concert.
