Vintage USAF Thunderbirds Patch

Here is an original patch of USAF Thunderbirds circa late fifties early sixties. Thunderbirds started flying the F-100 Super Sabre in 1956. So it's vintage patch that I found on eBay. It has some staining on the yellow backing. Mostly you don't see patches like this. Thought it would be really cool on my repro L-2A. It is of the era.

Every time I hear of the thunderbirds I get sad. Back in 88 they were here for the CNE air show on the Labour Day weekend. They were using our hangar and I became quite “friendly “ with a cute little avionics girl on the team. It just so happened that I was scheduled to go on a Garret engine course the following month in Phoenix. So we arranged a dirty weekend (or week) as she was based in Nevada. Well, a week before I was to leave, the boss cancelled it and sent me to Toulouse for a month on the atr42 course. Damn! I think he must have been on to me.;)

Lol. I don't know if we see them on west coast like Abbotsford Airshow. Usually the Navy. I have great memories of the Abbotsford Airshow in 1975 when a lot of WW2 US aces were flying their P-51's.

Had my 1975 Abbotsford Airshow program signed by aces. Years later my mom would throw it away. Thinking it was taking up space or something like mom's do.

I was looking up Thunderbirds and they had a really bad day when four planes flew into the ground because the leader was off.. altimeter was off. Don't know.. crashed and the others followed the leader.. sad stuff.

Been there. I had perfectly preserved corgi toys that are very valuable now. My mum gave them to my nephew who destroyed them.
