Sorry but 50 quid is cheap considering the weight and value of the jackets. Today I posted my A-1 to California, it was £77....
That's incredible, I didn't realize it was so expensive. I guess having the shipping price included in the eBay Aero listings is no minor benefit.

Business accounts don't pay anything like that. I shipped an Irvin the Japan by courier for £38.

Try using some of the brokers who advertise on Ebay. They get bulk discounts from the likes of DHL and Fedex and work out slightly cheaper.
A bit like trains really. If you just turn up at the ticket office you'll pay dearly but if you book in advance off peak it's dirt cheap. I went from Somerset to Hull which is well over 200 miles for £12.50 !
I'd like to see a price list for that company. Having tried Couriers before they were even more expensive than Parcel Force.
Please post a link so we can all benefit.

John, it's my company account. They get a circa 50% discount.

I did used to have a UPS account for small business use and I got 20% off the published rate card on the occasional shipments I made to the states.

Ah, not available to us then as I suspected. Eastman only pay £12 to post a jacket by courier within the UK the rest of us have to pay £22 for the same service using Royal Mail.

It's the 2 kg.barrier that is the killer for International post. Above this weight the price increases dramatically. It might be cheaper to actually deliver the packet in person if flying by Ryanair, you would of course not have to mind being treated like a bullock.

As I say discounts are available if you hunt around on Ebay. I shipped 8kg of car parts locally for £7.50 last year.
It was a flat rate tariff up to 10kg.
DHL turned up to collect so clearly these Ebay shipping brokers are splitting their trade discount and still undercutting Parcelforce.
Under 2Kg and Royal Mail special Delivery is the best. It's sometimes possible to use polythene wrap rather than a box to get a leather jacket just under 2Kg.

They used to do free shipping to USA for jacket over £350.00!
Now to USA £50!
No more leather jacket!!!!!

Well this will hit the pocket of those chaps on the FL who are fixated with Aero civi jackets. Perhaps there will be more interesting posts over there instead of "I've ordered an Aero..... "my new Aero has just arrived ...." etc.

I am an Aero civil jacket fan at TFL, and just have no interest in military jackets. IMHO Aero makes the best leather jackets, period, plust their cust. svce is excellent, so it isn't surprising they have a big worldwide following.

I bought a Hwyman last year when it was 425 pounds, and locked in early in the year when the dollar was at a 20-year high, got lucky for once in my life.

Don't let it bother you,Bob. There are those here that have a similar opinion as you about Aero civi jackets....and some also post on the FL.
..And you're right..those who do have "interest" in new utility jackets find Aero's versions are hard to beat. We have a Moto/Utiliy jacket section here...but most usually "fixate" on military gear. According to the owner(Chris)..vintage utility/MC jackets and lookalikes fit right in here as well.
After all it is the VLJ.."Vintage Leather Jacket" forum. Feel free to post photos of your Aeros...or other brands of civi jackets. Some of us would certainly like to see them. Most of us are ordinary VLJ members just like you without haughty attitude.

That is bold ... ;)

They may not make clone military stuff, but the quality and levels of construction of horsehide jackets are of the very highest and very good value.
Apparently the Hells Angels rate them as the best and who would argue with them ?

Yes, John ... in my current avatar I'm wearing one of theirs, and I'm very happy with it.

And Hells Angels huh? I hadn't heard that.

Oh yes, they are very big with them. I think it's the heavy horse thing and biker jackets.
One of them tried on my Radjacke up in Scotland when it was there for an alteration, and thought it very cool.
Apparently I even get a mention as it's instigator on the new website, fame at last !
