The wrecked rear turret of Avro Lancaster B Mark I of No. 57 Squadron RAF at Scampton, Lincolnshire, after returning from a night raid on the German city of Oberhausen in June, 1943. Sgt R.F.Haynes was killed.

I know it's a corker of a painting isn't it. I'm hugely chuffed!

Location? Where the painting is meant to show? If so, probably RAF Northolt as 41 refromed there in '23 with Snipes.

I love Cowland's paintings, he demonstrates movement and speed like good, old Michael Turner.
