its not all about Leica, Japan made some amazing stuff, Japan and Nikon made the Vietnam war in pictures

Smart GIs went to Hong Kong for their holiday, bought tax free Nikon cameras or Rolex.
Less smart GIs spent their holiday for beer and girls.

Wasn't Hein Gericke a German company? Or was it just a "brand name" to look pretty on store fronts?

Many years ago a friend of mine bought a HG motorcycle jacket that was pretty sturdy -- I'd bet he still has it. Don't remember looking at where it was manufactured, though.

It was indeed a German company, quite popular in Belgium also.

They made " low budget" motorcycle gear, both racing leathers and touring ( both leather and textile) but quality was pretty good actually.
When visiting Belgian Championship roadraces early 2000, you saw guys racing in HG one-piece leathers, so must have been good quality.
Somewhere around 2015, lights went out for HG.
