New GW No name B-3

Today on ME TV in the Los Angeles area they broadcasted Episode #2 of 12 O'clock High the series
entitled "Follow the leader". In this episode they used more of the movie setup than later in the series
where they downscaled the briefing rooms and the debrief and interrogation areas. Today it was as in the
movie. In the Briefing room before the second run there must have been 100 crewman of which at leas 50%
were wearing B-3s. (alot of this footage is historical) At least 50% of THOSE had the same collar that John displays in these pics. That tells me
that Johns pattern is pretty damn accurate. At least to some of the contracts let for WW2. Maybe all the contracts
werent that big, but alot of them WERE.

Personally, I like the finish on Johns better though. Mine looks like a boy racers WRX on a Saturday night its so shiny!

Steve,

I noticed the shine on your RMNZ in another thread and I thought you had applied something to the jacket to give it that shine...didn't know that RMNZ's came shiny.

Steve

Yep, very shiny. Since that pic it's had a light coat of Pecards jut to give a quick protective seal but its very bright! I'm sure it'll wear in and lose some shine but til then, don the shades boys! And when the collar is turned up and buckled,I look like one of those African women with the neck rings! Down it stays!

True John. What do you think of the size of the collar?
Looks just the way we like them from RMNZ. Some might say it is on the large size, but I have several WW 2 photos of crew wearing jackets with similar collars. I would prefer a little more shine but I am a magpie when it comes to sheepskin.

Seems to be the material thickness making it look bigger. The original spec. called for 1/4" on the wind flap.
Some of the original makers didn't take much notice though. My HLB was almost twice as thick in the body as the specs 3/4"

If that's an Eastman then it could easily pass an original.
I must stay away from this forum to be able to manage my illness more easily...the 50 cal. A-1 and all these B-3's are making me want them.

LMAO! Which product from Pecards do you use on your B-3? I thought that the B-3 was a jacket didn't need a protective coating since it is paint and not actual leather on the surface??? I'm new to sheepskin jackets so I really don't know too much, but I'd like to protect my jacket(s) for sure.

The more I look at the GW, the more I like it. Hopefully he'll have a mono tone available as well. I wonder how much the B-3's will cost.

Here is the next GW B-3. The combination of dark seal and redskin fleece combined with russet facings reminds me of the ELC Perry. http://www.goodwearleather.com/photos/T ... oName_46R/

Is there a label on this one? Assuming this is a trial jacket. Usually the pics folders show the lablels but nothing on this jacket?

Certainly well made, that was always going to be a given. I dont think the next 'few' will be anywhere near $1800... Perhaps the production line is moving into WWII movie mode soon?

JC needs to up the rate of effort based on the side on shot! ;)

Where did you find the price? I looked and couldn't find a price for the B-3.

I've given up looking for the new stuff on the site. I could not find something a while back. I rely on the guys in the loop to keep me up to date..

Pecards vintage dressing on ALL leather- works for me no matter what the opinions state!

I put it on the horsehide components only, to help break in... you are correct- the shearling is already coated with protectant- whether its paint or not I'm no chemist. However, theres no reason you couldn't put it on the shearling as well as you just wipe off whatever does not get absorbed- I would test it in an out of sight area first though. If it preserves it for a year longer than without dressing, then its worth it!

Thanks for the info. I'll pick up a jar of it and test it out on the sheepskin as well. Hopefully it will add some type of protection on top of the paint.
