New ELC contract

Wow! The first new original maker contract since the 1933 Werber. I too hope a plain HLB jacket will be available as well as the Elite Unit one.

Noticed that last night. Looks great. Only, the collar, what is the deal with ELC collars? Why do they all look the same, regardless of the contract, and they all look a little off in some way. They also seem to sit a little strangely when worn. I don't know, am I imagining things? No expert here.

ELC collars, to me, look a little narrower than originals of the same model.
I suspect they're copying an original in a common size, say 38, then using that collar width for all sizes.

Hap Arnold, 1934; yrs truly, 2013; Werber 33-1729.

I sure would like an HLB without any of the wartime patches or stamps.
Just my name, gold stamped on a brown tag, as was regulation in 1937.

Well, my first thought when I saw that at ELC is: big collar.
Apart from that it seems like it has tapered sleeves, which I like.
The collar will settle and can be helped to settle quicker of course.
Wore my Werber today and thought to myself that it is such a good jacket.

Anyone care to tell us about the peculiarities of this new make?

Data plate 5 in Gary's book.
Horsehide
Kwik No. 8 Ni plated zip
Riveted zip reinforcement
United Carr ball studs (collar/pockets)
Collar stand

Should be pale russet - the repro looks dark to me (like Gary's re-dyed example).

It is meant to match Gary's original shown in the book, he mentions the blood chit on the back. Hopefully if it's also a standard 'plain' jacket it will be the correct shade etc.

This is a copy right down to the patches of a 1937 HLB, that was buried on Acme Depot forever, don't know if it can be accessed. It was very dark brown. If Mark is reding posts maybe he can help direct us to it.

That wasn't the one Andrew, this had the 75th squadron patch as per ELC's also dark seal, it was in a section where people sent in pics of their jackets and Mark posted them, not sure it's accessible on the Depot any longer

It was on the original FJ forum Marc started on the old Deja.com site (anyone remember that?) back in the early or mid-90s. Not sure Marc actually transferred all that over to Acme at any time.
