My last A-2 (hopefully) - Good Wear

Jan, thank you for Parts 1 and 2 in particular. Wonderful to see a comparison to an original and so impressive to see JC's craftsmanship and attention to detail. The new goatskin looks amazing and I am sure feels even better as you described.

With the weather we have been having in the UK of late, it might be possible to start wearing leather jackets again...

Need to share this with you as it is simply amazing.
Maybe you recall that my GW journey actually started with an United Sheeplined #42-18777-P on the initial whish list that somehow always moved out due to other 'plans' and occurrences. Nevertheless I kept this token open and recently decided to go for it.

Always looking for meaningful distinction within my collection (hide, color etc.) I asked John to create this whish as a "Combat Clone" because I was ever since keen to see how his expertise in recreating something that could most easily be confused with an original would come to live and look like in reality. What arrived now last week - I myself can without doubt declare as the most beautiful A-2 (I at least) have ever seen.

To give you the right impression I just leverage John's original photos (presuming his consent) as his photos can hardly be topped this time. I will split this thread accordingly in two parts to get everything through to you. And here we go:

Yeah, stunning.
Is this horsehide?
Yes Brett. This time I went for Italien HH the first time. I know that for 'real' period correctness I would have had chosen Cowhide instead, as proven by Gary Easman's investigation re this particular contract. But I considered it an affordable deviation and really wanted to have it in Italian HH ;o))

Absolute beauty !
I'm jealous. :)
The day I order an A-2 from JC (that day will come, for sure), I'm seriously considering a "combat clone". I think it really adds something.
Just out of curiosity, can you give me the dimensions of this jacket ?
Congratulations, enjoy !

You won't regret it, Kermit. Would you do full combat clone, or just some wonky stitching to replicate what originals were like?

I have a pending order at GW, but after this one, it will definitely be an A-2... but Mr. Mike's B-3 Rough Wear has turned my brain around so much, I still have to think about it.

If I opt for an A-2, I'm thinking of a complete "combat clone" (stitching and leather patina). I know that many people here are rather reluctant to artificial aging, but JC is proposing something very convincing (in my opinion).
