So what is the idea behind the right hand flap? Additional wind coverage or symmetry for the left flap? On the surface it seems like a vestigial appendage.
Here it is, my personal grail. With huge thanks to blackrat2 for his amazing consideration. Knowing I was looking for a GW, he contacted me and offered this jacket. Now I usually take a size 42, but this is labeled a 44 but has measurements similar to a 42 and comparable to some 42s on the GW sale page. Being a roughwear 27752 I simply couldn't resist, plus I was looking for something a little lighter in shade than my usual seal.
This is shinki, beautiful matte finish with tons of character. The dye has created a mottled look in some areas which is stunning. The leather is thinner and more supple than all other horsehides I have and I much more accurate for it. NOS crown zipper and studs.
Huge thanks and gestures like that put a little faith backing humanity.View attachment 82278View attachment 82279View attachment 82280View attachment 82281View attachment 82283

The Horween is much redder than the russet Shinki.

In your opinion which hide is nicer?

Don’t do it until the wife is out shopping . She’ll never know how many you have !At last we've arrived at the time of year that I can get some wear into my new GW Star. But the trouble is digging out a GW A-2 is a slippery slope...
