Looks like Diamond Dave is Closing up the Jacket Business

Dang, I was looking for an L-2B that would fit me...
Every time I've been close to getting a jacket in the last 5 years, that "1%" raise I've been getting stopped me from having the spare cash. I really wanted one of Skyhawk's jackets and one of the L2 that DD made, but either got aced out or didn't get the money in order...I have to say, I've kept the pics of the DD L2's on my computer because they're stunning - as are the Apollo jackets. And my son bought a crusher years ago and it's a work of art. I hate this, but I'm not surprised I guess. This small piece of the world got very ugly some years back and I kinda peg it to the Jonny Boy Irvins and Platon posts. From there is was all down hill...and now Ken? Fugg it.

I’ve only purchased one jacket from DD, this modified J100 ( in Goat with sleeve zips deleted)
It was a nice easy process, in the end I got what I wanted, it fit fine

Don't expect me to be a cheerleader
Check my posts
I've praised others as often as I've pointed out others flaws.
If you want an honest appraisal based on over 50 years sat at a sewing machine I'm your man........if you don't like the blunt truth I'm quite happy to walk away

No one was looking for a cheerleader ... just a little understanding and common courtesy to a fellow member in the midst of watching his business and a dream come to an end. Those same courtesy’s that we would extend to you under similar circumstances.

Intelligence and respect is not part of your dictionary... you missed a chance to keep your mouth shut and not show off your stupidity...which apparently you have quite a lot of.

This post is to thank a man who gave his best in doing what he loved and make people happy with his products.

DD wish you all the best and good luck in whatever you will choose next to do!

Cheers

It's a jungle out there.
There are far too many military repro makers for there not to be casualties. the market hasn't grown that much. These days If Aero relied on militaria we'd have a work force of around 5 unstead of our current 25

Same thing happened to the UK Vintage market in the 1970s (OK it wasn't known as vintage then)
The boom started around 1965 with maybe half a dozen shops, by 1971 there were several hundred vintage shops in London, yet by the time we opened The Thrift Shop in 1976 there were probably less than a dozen still trading,

New and recent start ups need to design (well) to survive, they need a USP
Sir Ken Even I dont anyhow want to relate my question to so called Brexit so I would happily hear Your professonial opinion on How this issue has affected on market. I still am underlining that my question is not anyhow pro nor con. Just a question Kari

Hate to see DD go. I own three of this nylon jackets and they are wonderful. Are they the most accurate, earth shattering, make a jacket nerd drool kind of thing. Couldn't tell you, couldn't care much. They seemed accurate enough to me. AND most importantly, he was the only one out there making a true 48. And the price was less than the Japanese makers. touches such as authentic "US Govt Property" pens in the pen pocket was a nice touch.

No need for this surely? An ill-considered, certainly ill-timed comment, sure-I winced at it a bit myself. But lose Ken’s vast wealth of knowledge over it? We all know Ken doesn’t have much of a filter, but I‘d hate to see him leave over it.
