Long-shot ID Request: Buck Cleven’s A-2

Gale “Buck” Cleven has been on my All-Manhood team since I first read “Flying Fortress” in high school and I’m happy he was brought into the living rooms of the world with “Masters of the Air.” It just occurred to me: I should ask this august body if Cleven’s A-2 could be identified. Boy, if anyone could make an A-2 look like pure swag, he could. The photos of him wearing it aren’t so great, but I wonder if you guys can use that forensic charm of yours to harvest just enough details to make at least an educated guess.

Hard to tell, but the pocket bottoms appear to be square, as against bronco pocket bottoms, which are always angled at the bottom corners. Highly “scalloped” pocket flaps are seen on a coupla originals, including star a-2s. Even Aeros sometimes had scalloped” pocket flaps sometimes.

Interesting, I’d thought it was a Star, due to the curve of that collar, but from the close-up it looks like the pocket has ring snaps. So, Bronco, like everyone else said.
