It’s not totally useless…. It can always be used as a”Bad Example “ :)
I still have my “bad example “ in the basement. A bit later than yours . Around 86 and cowhide. Couldn’t afford that beautiful horse hide at the time. What’s the saying, ignorance is bliss ;)

Yep. I first discovered them in an ad in the back pages of a plane and pilot magazine. Blew me away. Couldn’t wait to get one. Up until then I was strictly ma-1, L2-b and n2-b. Had never even considered leather.

It is a disease- but I tell you that those of us who suffer from it have literally helped repros go from smooth "bespoke" shiny Eastmans and Aeros of 2002 to the far more accurate Eastmans and BKs of 2024 to the GW literally almost exact copy repro A-2!

Looking at all these weird characterictics and pointing out how often repros look different here or there translates into better repros.

Quite so Jeff, quite so. I am sure large numbers of discerning people will be eternally grateful.

Lets fix that colar so it looks more like Hilts'. First- fold the back higher up from the neck hole so the back of the collar folds more like a regular shirt collar. Next- angle down the 2 sides of the collar so they ride against the body of the jacket. Fold the top of the windflap side over as much as it will go. Make sure those collar tips are down down down! Wet before doing all this and let the collar set.

I wonder where they got that one. It looks good *enough* that I don’t think it was some costume jacket, but at the same time it’s definitely not an original, or any of JC’s work.

New original 20960. Freakishly complete and in good shape. The leather although it looks sueded and beat up is actually in almost perfect shape- just that 1940s leather finish wear(1401Ps had it too). Knits almost perfect- Crown zip with no problems and even the lining has no holes or wear- just a few stains. Agonizing whether to Pecards it or not. It really is like a time machine jacket.
