Pics and review please Burt! You knew it was comin'.... ;)
Gladly Chris :)
I’ll have one for you by the end of the day . ( US time) Unfortunately I don’t have any vintage ones to compare them with and they’ve only been washed about 5 times. Never did one on jeans, so if you guys have any tips on what areas to focus on , it would be helpful.
Cheers

Keep an eye out on ebay, Facebook and Instagram for guys selling Valencia St 555 LVC. Every now and then, some nice denim still comes up at not crazy prices.Five years ago I bought these unwashed tagged LVC 555 '37 Cone Mills 201's dry with tags for $120 and have worn the hell of of them. No blown out crotch and worn pocket bags. The denim does not give up fades easily and wears like iron, unlike a lot of current Japanese denim. If you can find old LVC Japan, even better.

You always manage to make your pieces look so cool in your pics Grant. The 555 201's are such nice jeans. I had a pair and they were lovely. The only snag I found is that they were seriously undersized. I had a pair tagged 36 waist and hoped they'd be around 34 but when they arrived they were pretty much a 32 waist and I had to move them on the end. You got a great result with that pair!
The denim that has shrunk the most. 1.5-2 inches in the tail, almost 3 inches in length.

My preferences in denim have definitely changed over time, with the one constant of buying dry selvage denim.

I used to wear exclusively straight and wider cuts, and found LEE Archives to be extremely well made, great fit and quality. Never found my way into LVC...

Today my preferences are towards slimmer silhouettes, and I find GAP selvage denim a very good value for the price. The following jeans are Slim Fit, which is basically a slightly narrower straight fit. They are made of Kaihara denim, 100% cotton, classic red line selvage edges. They are no regular stock, I think, that's usually a version with stretch. But they come up every once in a while. They lack some of the finer details, like cloth liners in the back pockets, but are a nice every day wearer.

Jeans are maybe 4 years old, worn probably 200 days/year, and machine washed every 4 weeks:

They're cut slightly looser in the thighs a little wider in the legs. The waist and seat are pretty much like the 44's.Hope that helps.

Thanks Grant
I have 44’s albeit not Cone Mills and I also understand raw denim more so would size up from my 32/34 to 34/34 next time..

Hey John, I usually untucked my shirt when wearing sheepskin jackets with dark denim. So far, I've had no problems with the indigo transferring to the shearling.
With denim well worn and faded I've had no issues tucking the shirt in.

Just my 2 cents!

I do that too Grant.
I still get blue hands though!

Hahaha, I haven't broken new raw denim in a while - forgot about the blue hands! I just wash my hands a lot when that happens! Small price to pay for sick denim!
