This is the best reproduction I have seen of this iconic picture of Fg Off L.W.Taylor and his crew before No. 220 Squadron's FL462/"W", B-17. The picture was taken in May 1943 in Benbecula. The colours of the Irvins are spot on and it is good to see the full picture and not the reversed image used in the ELC Golden Book.

Unlike the B-17, RAF Bomber Command never used B-24s as bombers over Europe. No. 223 Squadron RAF, one of Bomber Command’s 100 (Bomber Support) Group squadrons, used 20 Liberator VIs to carry electronic jamming equipment to counter German radar.
